Canada

CANADA

The hunters of beavers, the carved tótems and decorations, the waterfalls of the Niagara, the immense lakes and forests, the abominable man of the called snow Sasquatch, the red jackets of the Mounted Police, the Eskimo or inuit of Nunavut, the maple syrup, the Tower CN of Toronto (that is one of the highest buildings in the world)... The images of the Canadian tradition intermingle with the modern cities of spectacular sky-scraper. Did you know that this one of the countries is with better quality of life of the world?

WHAT TYPE OF COUNTRY IS CANADA?

Canada is an independent State. Their government form is a democracy federal parliamentarian. It is sovereign country of the Commonwealth: the queen of United Kingdom is the boss of the State, and her representative in the country she is a general governor. The government's boss is the first minister. Canada is governed by the Constitutional Records of 1982.
It belongs to numerous international organizations, as the UN and the NATO. Also, it forms part of the TLC or NAPHTHA (Treaty of Free North American Trade). Their official currency is the Canadian dollar. The official languages are English and French. The majority religions are the Christian: Catholic and Protestant.
Their territory is divided in 10 counties and 3 territories (Yukón, Northwest and Nunavut). The federal capital is Ottawa. The county of Quebec has a system judicial matter and, in successive occasions, it has summoned elections to be able to obtain the secession of Canada.

CENTRAL PLAINS AND OUTLYING MOUNTAINS

Canada is in America of the North and it is the second more extensive country of the world: single Russia overcomes it!
The plateau Laurentina occupies almost half of the territory. The most fertile areas are the low lands (lowlands) of the center and the east, and the western interior plains. These are a continuation of the plains of United States, country with which limits for the south along about 6.000 kilometers!
The mountains dominate the landscape of the region of the Appalachian Mountains, in the southeast. They also cover the whole western territory with the names of Rocky mountains and Coastal mountain range. In this last one the highest summit in the country, the mount runs off with Logan, with almost 6.000 meters of altitude.

THE COUNTRY WITH MORE KILOMETERS DE COAST OF THE PLANET

Canada has more than 240.000 km of coast, five times more than Indonesia that occupies the second position in the world ranking! It is a coast clipped with big bays and gulves, wide peninsulas and countless islands taken a bath by three oceans: the ocean Atlantic surrounds the island of Newfoundland, located in the east; in the coast west, skirted of fiords, the island of Vancouver that blunts in waters of the ocean Pacific, is and other many islands are in the Glacial ocean Ártico (Baffin, Victoria, Ellesmere, Banks...).
Canada has more lakes and rivers that any other country of the world. It shares with United States the Superior lake, the most extensive in the world, together with other three of the Big Lakes (Ferret, Ontario and Erie), all them connected to each other by means of channels and together to the ocean Atlantic by means of the river San Lorenzo.
However, the water is scarce in the immense cultivated plains, where the dry climate prevails. And it remains frozen by the area glacier of the north, where the alone arctic climate allows the tundra vegetation. The continental climate is characteristic of the rest of the Canadian territory: it favors the dense forests where the taiga of coniferous alternating with leaf trees it expires (walnut, oak and maple whose leaf was adopted as national symbol).

AN UNION OF TOWNS THAT YOU/THEY COHABIT IN HARMONY

In Canada, most of the population concentrates on the southern fringe of the territory, next to United States. The main urban masses are Toronto (with more than 5 million inhabitants), summoned in the county of Ontario, and Montreal (something more than 3 million and half people), located in Quebec. Other important cities are Vancouver, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton. In all them the modern sky-scrapers play the sky.
But the origins of the Canadian establishments go back behind to 30.000 years, when towns coming from Asia occupied the current Canadian territory.
" The Indian algonquinos and Iroquois, and the inuit (Eskimo) they still inhabit Canada. Their stone sculptures, of ivory and wooden (did you know that they call themselves totem?), together with those sculpted in whale teeth, are they testimony of their presence.
" The Vikings the first browsers that arrived from Europe were and they settled down about 1.000 years ago in the north of the island of Newfoundland.
" About 500 years later, the French and the Britons, attracted by the trade of skins, established the first commercial colonies. The French bequeathed grandiose cathedrals, as those of Nôtre you Give me, in Ottawa, and Saint Michel, in Toronto. The Englishmen highlighted as expert cartographers and official of the army.
" In 1867 he/she was formed the Domain of the Canada, subjected to the British crown, but already independent nation.
Their cultural and social diversity is reflected in the universal dimension of its artistic personalities. Have you heard speak of the singers Céline Dion, Bryan Adams, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell or Neil Young? And of the Circus of the Sun (Cirque du Soleil), of the cosmetic Elizabeth they do Burn...?
